Escape From New York filmmaker John Carpenter recently revealed that he would release Lost Themes II, the follow-up to the 68-year-old director’s 2015 debut LP, this spring, and now Carpenter has shared the upcoming album’s opening track: the menacing synth symphony “Distant Dream.” Fans who pre-order Carpenter’s new LP receive an instant download of the track.
Carpenter long served as composer on his own films, including renowned scores for 1967’s Assault on Precinct 13 and 1978’s Halloween, before teaming with his son Cody and composer Daniel Davies for Lost Themes. The three musicians crafted the music for Lost Themes II in the studio – instead of over email, like the previous LP – while Carpenter similarly worked on the music for CBS’ Zoo series.
In addition to Lost Themes II, due out April 15th, Carpenter also mapped out a summer tour.
