side one

A new collaboration: Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore, artist and lyricist Cliff Damavandi and vocalist Johnnie Lee, under the name MG x CD + JL =. In old mythology birds carry messages between the living and the dead; Cross Whisper was set off by blackbirds turning up in moments of loss, and is about the connections that stay with those we’ve lost. The video, by Luca Bailey, was filmed in Japan and England.
